Just ticking over...

Been a bit quiet around here recently, hasn't it? Sorry about that.

The usual onslaught of busy-ness, which I've complained about frequently enough not to bother you with it again, coupled with rather a lack of creativity, and rather a lot of things to photograph, edit and post to Flickr, has been undermining blog posting rather.

Ah well. Perhaps I'll update you on a few things that have happened recently in some future posts. In the meantime, it's shaping up to be an interesting week and Victoria Day long weekend to come. And the most notable occurrence, one that I know that many of you will be intensely jealous of, is:

Ye Seconde Visite of Huge Alex.

Yes indeed, Aled is coming to sunny Toronto again, and like last time, will stop off at the ridiculously-named place where I work for a coffee, a natter, and maybe, just maybe, if we're both feeling sufficiently secure in publicizing the event, a photo-op. He's already reminded me that it's my turn to buy, in case you were wondering.

Slightly less exciting, but still fun, will be another visit to the twisty goodness that is the racetrack at Mosport, this time for the Victoria Day Speedfest. Rather an over-the-top name, but it should be good fun, with GT Sports Cars, Touring Cars, and the SCCA Trans-Am series all rolled into one weekend. I've already got my ticket, and I'm even planning to meet up with yet another internet-only connection, Flickrite f1design, coming down from Ottawa or thereabouts for this event. Should be an enjoyable time, as long as it doesn't pour with rain like it's doing this weekend.

That's about it for now, I'm afraid... as mentioned, I'll update a few other things soon. Unless I'm too lazy, or forget.

I *am* intensely jealous that you will be receiving your 2nd visit from Aled. I have yet to receive my 1st...

While looking at your photos on Flickr, I remembered that I was in the parking lot of the grocery store yesterday and heard an engine roar to life. I turned and saw an old Alfa Romeo convertible (I think it might have been this one, but in a cream color) driven by a man so tall that his head protruded above the windshield. He looked a bit like a kid riding one of those toy cars that you pedal to make it go. Made me happy for some reason...

Debi - that's a very nice Alfa. Looks a bit like a Giulietta, but I'm not an expert... pretty things.

I saw a not-nearly-so-lovely Milano/75 on the weekend... and shortly after, I saw five (count 'em, five) Ferraris.

Sigh.

You work on MARS?! I mean, I'm not really one for science, but I never thought you scientific types were Martian or any other kind of extra-terrestrial ...

Waha! Aled was just here. Didn't take any photos though, unfortunately... but he's looking well I must say.

Pinklea - yes, I do, 'tis a silly name for a place to work.

P.S. I'm now 99% sure that picture isn't a Giulietta now that I think about it. It's even nicer.

Your day will come Debi....
It was good to see Ricardipus again, and we discussed the world and its problems. If we were in charge, I think we could solve most of the problems at a stroke. I got the red carpet treatment! Actually, it was from the night before, but had been left out. BTW R, I got the camera you wanted. Giggle.
After that historic meeting, I watched the Tamils bitching about life, and the Falun Gong having a march complete with band and their dragons. All washed down with a beer on top of the CN Tower - wonderful views.
Then off to Niagara Falls. Such a wonderful sight which never fails to amaze me. Then a jaunt to the Casino where I came out $250 richer. Until my wife found out, and is now the proud owner of not one, but three new handbags. I also had to buy fish and chips at a great little place in downtown Toronto. The end result was that I was down about $250! Now back in England. Bummer.

Pam - sounds good. I usually have one with me as well. Next time, as you say.

Glad to hear you've got some nice new handbags. ;)

P.S. wv is 'venatio', which is as far as I know, a perfectly good Latin verb. Shocking.
