Arriving, again

As I return home along the highway, I'm reminded by this sign:

Highway of Heroes, Ontario, Canada

that not everyone will be returning home these holidays, and that some of those driving this week on the Highway of Heroes will be making one final trip to CFB Trenton.

Lost keeping the peace, in keeping with the season.

It's a sobering thought! Happy New Year!

It seems such a waste losing all these young men. I hope the powers that be know what they're doing.

I believe we're up to 106 Canadians lost now. It's truly awful, isn't it? And I just found out that my sister-in-law's brother has been sent to Afghanistan, so now it's personal.

Nice to see you back in the blogosphere, by the way!

I fear that Afghanistan is a lost cause. The locals seem intent of retaining their Middle Ages credo. How do you change a country's thinking? I wonder what will happen to N Korea when that despot finally dies. Maybe East Germany can be an example. Many of the people there long for the 'good old days' of communism.
